Mission Statement
Woodcraft Manningham is a hands-on club, with a large well equipped workshop in an old single roomed school building erected in 1874 and was used as the East Templestowe Primary School. We have a series of woodworking groups in each of our disciplines during the month together with a monthly General Meeting, usually with a guest speaker talking on various woodworking topics.
We are a group of interested woodworkers who will show you how to do it. We do not have formal
lessons and our fees reflect this. Other members will help with different aspects of doing the project. In turn one day you will help others to learn.
We encourage all members to be involved in all aspects of club life.
Visitors and new members are always welcome.
Club History
Woodcraft Manningham commenced as an entity in 1996 with the amalgamation of Central Turners, Doncaster Carvers and the Lady Turners clubs. Central Turners had started in 1986 formed as a "hands-on" club by some members of the Yarra Turners and initially met in the pattern making shop at RMIT.
The initial driving force were well known turners Keith Towe and Max Marshall with the support of Jim Walker. The Doncaster Carvers had commenced in 1991 under the leadership of well known carvers Greg Williams and Bryan Thompson, and had previously met at a number of different venues.
In 2006 we celebrated our twentieth birthday and the Scroll Sawing group was established in November 2007
